Autumn's Embrace: The return of the red wine
Autumn’s Embrace
Hello to all our new and old members on this sunny Friday, we are super excited to share this week’s wines with you!
I realised I have been focusing on white wines a lot recently ( mainly because of my love of summer vibes) so the change in weather has finally given me a chance to venture out and try some fruity reds.

Today’s mood calls for some….
Full-bodied reds!
I always had a strange relationship with wine labels. Some I adore instantly and some I just can’t get past, even if the wine inside the bottle is great. And when the label only describes the wine as a red or white blend, well, I usually leave that wine for emergencies…
But this week I decided it was time for a change and I managed to pick up a gorgeous red blend.
B. Ink from Accolade Wines is one of those heavier reds. With a 14.5% abv, you expect wines to be rich and full-bodied, sometimes with an overpowering alcohol level but this one was a nice surprise. Yes, it is rich and bold but with the sweet aromas of dark chocolate and raspberries. With scents of vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of oak, this is a great choice for those cosy, autumnal nights. And the colour, that beautiful, deep red ink! I would definitely have it on its own but it is actually a very good match with red meat and duck.

Accidental Tuesday Night Wine Club
I think I created a wine club!? No, not one of those where you have to pay a monthly fee. Think of it as a private members club but with only 2 members.
This one started as a regular evening where you meet with a friend for a glass of wine. Nothing crazy as it is a midweek night, so you opt for that usual glass of innocent and low-alcohol sparkling wine. But as the night progressed and our glasses kept turning empty, I realised one thing: I love sharing my passion for wine and it’s just so easy to open one more bottle!
The excitement to talk about wine and share my findings with people always been my favourite wine related activity. It’s not about having the same opinions or even sharing the same bottles of wine, it’s about the journey, the discovery.
So what do you do when a one-off couple of drinks on a Tuesday night turns into this weekly, accidental wine club? Embrace it! Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Albariño, here we come!
Trying new wines every week, searching for the one your friend never tried and feeling like a well seasoned sommelier after a few bottles? I think it sounds like a pretty good club. Even when it’s not the best wine, at least you tried it.
I just wish it was on a Friday night…
Next time…
More reds, a trip to the vineyard ( I am so excited about this!!!) and the chef’s favourite wine
Have a grape weekend!
