Rainy Saturday in the house? Keep reading below for some positive wine thoughts.
Today’s mood calls for some….
Happiness in a bottle!
I keep telling myself it’s ok that summer is over but this autumn is not quite the one we wanted. It’s not the colour changing, leaf-raking, cosy sweater autumn; this one is all about rainy days and grey skies.
So what can transfer your mood to a warmer, happier place this Saturday? I say something sparkling!
No, it is not the cheapest drink option, but we can all treat ourselves sometimes, right? This weekend I am going for a beautiful English sparkling wine, all the way from Kent.
Chapel Down Brut NV is currently my favourite choice on a treat day. A great example of a traditional and elegant English sparkling wine, a glass of this will not disappoint. It’s crisp, it’s fresh with notes of green apple, strawberries and a hint of baked bread, this sparkling wine is a great choice if you love champagne but don’t really want to pay that hefty price tag. And those beautifully floating, persistent bubbles will make you smile in an instant.
What to pair it with? Don’t worry, you don’t need to get oysters or a tuxedo, try it the unconventional way and make some mac and cheese.
And guess what, if you buy 6 bottles, it is just over £20 for a bottle!
(Available now at your local Tesco Supermarket)

Favourite place for a glass of wine
All of those who know me would be able to guess my favourite place for a glass of wine but surprisingly, it is not a wine bar, it’s a restaurant. Why? Let’s start at the beginning.
See, I'm all about a place that I can keep coming back to, even if it doesn't have the fanciest or the most extensive list of bottles. Sure, there are plenty of great spots out there with good vibes, exquisite wines, and fantastic service, but this place stole my heart many years ago. Why, you ask? Well, it's all about the people.
I walk in, and there they are, the same bunch of happy faces, even on those days when getting a table feels like trying to catch a train. They don't just pour me my usual glass of sparkling (because that's the only weekday therapy I'll indulge in); they let me try new wines and, get this, actually care about what I think!
These people make you feel like you're part of an exclusive club. I know their names, their little quirks, and every dish and bottle on the menu. And let's not forget about the wine selection—always got some intriguing, unconventional treasures up their sleeve, waiting eagerly for me to try them.
I know I should probably step out of my comfort wine-zone and try some new places. But you know what they say, "Fear of the unknown is real!" Remember that feeling when you walk into a new place, not knowing if they have anything at all that you like or not knowing the location of the bathroom? But hey, didn't we all start as nervous newbies at our beloved wine place? Who can remember those early days? But what I can't forget are all those bottles of wine shared there, surrounded by these amazing people with a side of friendship.
( Don’t worry, I will let you on the secret soon so you can visit this place too )
Next time…
