Today’s mood calls for some….
Riesling!
Autumn has already arrived but I am still not ready to let those summer vibes go. What can be a better choice to bring back that sunshine than a light, crisp Riesling? My current favourite is the Sturmwolken Riesling from Pfalz, Germany. It is only 11.5% abv which is perfect for those midweek little sips. Lovely dry Riesling with great minerality and green apple, white peach and honey notes. Perfect on its own or could be a good companion to Thai fishcakes or some Chinese food.
If you are after a little burst of sunshine to brighten up your day you should give this one a try.
Oh, and I haven’t mentioned the price, £8 for a glass of forgotten summer!!

Welcome to the world of supermarket wines
Imagine you're strolling down the aisles of your local supermarket, with a basket full of your weekly necessities and suddenly, a bottle of wine catches your eye. It's affordable, it’s conveniently located but for some reason, you are feeling a touch of guilt when moving the bottle to your basket.
I think we all felt it at one point or another, that painful guilt that creeps in when you opt for a supermarket wine instead of something fancy from a specialised wine shop. I can still remember the day when I tried to hide behind my boyfriend when we purchased a bottle of Lambrini for a friend, in the hope that no one would see me with “that” and from “here”. But why should we let these feelings get in the way of enjoying wine?
I think it’s time to break free and start sipping without emptying our wallet! Supermarket wines offer something many specialist wine shops can't-convenience. No need to make extra trips, or wait days for the online delivery. And sometimes the best bottles are hiding right next to your daily bread, waiting to surprise you.
Next time…
Weekend wine treats, out and about in our favourite restaurant and of course some smashing wines
Have a greap day!
